Wow - well caught ! How did you track that one down ?

Seriously, I stared at the code the whole day yesterday,
trying to find ways how this could crash. Then I disabled
SIGCHLD handling completely and could reproduce it safely.
After I had that trigger, it was a pretty quick fix.
