A printer I have at my place of employment supports what it's manual
refers to as IP Gleaning. You add an IP address / MAC address to the
ARP cache and then ping the IP address.
Failing that and DHCP, it'll broadcast RARP / BTP packets.

You setup the drive using the install CD that came with the drive.
Once setup you can go into the advanced setting and change the IP address and subnet mask. Be aware you may need to update the firmware for this to work properly.
