Virtual volumes question
I'm testing out virtual volumes at our site, and I'm trying to figure
out how to get virtual volumes deleted from the target server. When I do migration on the source server from the target server, the occupancy on the source server goes down but the target server stays the same. I'm using a DISK storage pool on the target server for the storage pool. I've never used virtual volumes before, so I'm kind of in the dark. Thanks in advance for any help. Here's my setup on the source server: tsm: SHANTI>q devc VV_MALI f=d Device Class Name: VV_MALI Device Access Strategy: Sequential Storage Pool Count: 1 Device Type: SERVER Format: Est/Max Capacity (MB): 500.0 Mount Limit: 2 Mount Wait (min): Mount Retention (min): 2 Label Prefix: ADSM Library: Directory: Server Name: MALI Retry Period: 10 Retry Interval: 30 Shared: High-level Address: Minimum Capacity: WRM: No Drive Encryption: Scaled Capacity: Last Update by (administrator): ADMIN Last Update Date/Time: 06/25/2008 13:44:12 tsm: SHANTI>q stgp NSITE-MALI f=d Storage Pool Name: NSITE-MALI Storage Pool Type: Primary Device Class Name: VV_MALI Estimated Capacity: 5 G Space Trigger Util: Pct Util: 50.0 Pct Migr: 50.0 Pct Logical: 100.0 High Mig Pct: 90 Low Mig Pct: 70 Migration Delay: 0 Migration Continue: Yes Migration Processes: 1 Reclamation Processes: 1 Next Storage Pool: Reclaim Storage Pool: Maximum Size Threshold: No Limit Access: Read/Write Description: VV for mali Location: Cache Migrated Files?: Collocate?: Group Reclamation Threshold: 60 Reclamation Limit: Maximum Scratch Volumes Allowed: 10 Number of Scratch Volumes Used: 5 Delay Period for Volume Reuse: 0 Day(s) Migration in Progress?: No Amount Migrated (MB): 3,129.58 Elapsed Migration Time (seconds): 270 Reclamation in Progress?: No Last Update by (administrator): ADMIN Last Update Date/Time: 06/25/2008 13:45:40 Storage Pool Data Format: Native Copy Storage Pool(s): Active Data Pool(s): Continue Copy on Error?: Yes CRC Data: No Reclamation Type: Threshold Data when Deleted: Server Name: MALI Comm. Virtual volumes question
Ian Blair wrote:
The target pools have a 'Delay Period for Volume Reuse:' for the virtual volumes. Your retry period is 10 days. Also the 'source virtual volumes' are stored on the 'target as archive files', expiration must complete on the target for archives to be deleted. You hit the jackpot. I forgot about expiration. I ran expiration manually on the target server, and it occupancy is down to 0.
