Ugrading from 5.3 to 5.5

Hi list,

What should be the best approach to upgrade a TSM 5.3 Server running on a Linux RH4? The Install Guide tells you to perform several actions prior to installing TSM 5.5, including removing completely TSM 5.3 code.

The same guide however, tells you that if an older version is detected, the install script will then use the -U option from the rpm command and will upgrade the product.

So, the question is, what is the best way to do this upgrade? Shoud the older code be removed prior to installation or not?

There are three devices connected to the server, two IBM 3494 libraries (one is an extension) and one storage. All connected through a fibre channel switch.

Any help is appreciated.

Mario
