Just had a nasty run in with this trojan. web searches tell me the best
and most effective way of being rid of it for sure is a reinstall and
reformat. , i'll cop that. i shouldn;t have been running dodgy bits
of software off the internet.

My question is if anyone can point me to statistics or comments about
flec006.exe effectiveness rate? i've read it is an identity theft/
phishing trojan, and i want to know how likely it is that my details are
compromised. i've already changed passwords for anything financial in
nature, but should i go to the extent of contacting the banks and having
account numbers changed, credit card numbers changed etc etc?

thanks for the help.

yeah, i don't particularly see how that is helpful either.

look, i know what the file/virus is, and what its tryin to do. the issue
is whether it actually does what it was designed for. how likely is it
that it actually captured any of my passwords or financial details, then
saved them somewhere, then successfully gained access to the internet,
then actually connected to whoever it was trying to connect to, and
finally actually transmitted my details?

And then, how likely is it that this person, or persons, will use my
details?

I'm trying to measure risk. The virus is gone thanks to a reformat, so
int he 3 or 4 minutes it was active and i was still connected to the
web, what could it actually have achieved?

I don't just think it, I know and knew it before I even ran that
'checker' and still know it now after I've reloaded the ghosted
partition dumped from before I ran it.
Why, you think I'm not, maybe like I'm pwned?

Why bother to 'keep up'
with the unwashed masses of infected losers?

The degree and success of file recovery depends on how far gone they
are, and the process is a function of the recovery software's
capability, regardless if it's implemented by the rightful administrator
or surreptitiously through malware.
If by 'deleted' you mean only the file address has been flagged as such,
then recovery is quite simple, but if overwritten sufficiently, no way.
