defragmented gzip

Hello

Recently I accidentally deleted a 2GB (or so) gzip file (.tgz) which
contained a couple of other files and directories. This was on ext3
partition. I am trying to undelete it, unfortunately the inode seems no
longer to be there, etc
It is possible that parts of the file are still there, but in unknown
disk blocks.

The question is: is it possible to arrange chunked gzip stream parts
back in order?

And what if some are missing? Is it still possible to restore part of
the data?

Thanks!
STF
