Text disappears in Firefox/Thunderbird

I have the MS core fonts installed because I'm most comfortable with them for web use. So while non-MS fonts have entries like this: Nimbus Mono L:style=Bold MS fonts are polluted with style details that don't display properly: Arial:style=Italic,Cursiva,*va,kursiv, »¬³¹±,Kursivoitu,Italique,D,Corsivo,Cursief,Kursyw a,I¡lico,¸²,°talik,P¡evno,ªng,Etzana That was copied from rxvt-unicode. xterm yields garbage too, just in ASCII instead of unicode. My current Firefox preferences indicate that I want to use the MS fonts. Changing the font settings to all use Nimbus Mono L, I experience the same result. So the fc-list listing is buggy, but not the source of my problem. 3) I don't have DRI enabled. Is there some other setting I should check for? Thanks for your help thus far -Alex Hanson |

So unless there is some fix for that, I guess I'm stuck with the text problem. I'm using the radeon driver, for what it's worth. My Xorg log identifies my chip as follows: (--) RADEN(0): Chipset: "ATI Radeon 9800SE AH (AGP)" (ChipID = 0x4148) I don't suppose a fix is currently available, but it's nice to pinpoint my problem, to some degree. Thanks a lot for your help. -Alex Hanson |

Thanks a lot for your help. Hmm, I'd check if the radeon driver enables XRender acceleration by default. There's an option to control it, you may want to turn it off. have fun Michael PGP SIGNATURE Version: GnuPG v1.4.7 (Darwin) =P61d PGP SIGNATURE |
